What you’ll need:
4 -5 ripe pears
2 Tbl lemon juice
¾ c dried cherries, blueberries or raisins
6 Tbl butter, softened
2/3 c flour
2/3 c oats
2/3 c brown sugar
½ c chopped pecans or walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp allspice
Vanilla ice cream or whipped topping (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Halve and core the pears. Slice into ½ inch slices. Toss with lemon juice. Combine pears and dried fruit in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Mix butter and flour with a fork until it’s crumbly. Mix in oats, brown sugar, nuts and spices. Sprinkle evenly over fruit and press down lightly. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until pears are tender (check with the tip of a knife or a fork). Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping. Makes 6 - 8 servings.
